The story
Vicki and Robert Lawhorne opened the Dor-Stop on Potomac Avenue in Dormont in 1986, and it has been a South Hills breakfast stop ever since.
The hotcakes are giant, and the jumbot is the dish regulars talk about: eggs, Italian sausage, potatoes, cheese, peppers, onions and tomatoes cooked together, from a recipe that came from Vicki's mother. Guy Fieri stopped in for Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, which put the little diner in front of the whole country.
Justin and Jennifer Berger later took over, and since February 2024 the owner has been Evren Karabacak. Come hungry, because those hotcakes really are the size of the plate.
