Pittsburgh classic
The story
Henry Dewey is a Florida boy who worked his way up from dishwasher to executive chef, then cut fish at Benkovitz Seafood until it closed. When he decided to open his own place, he partnered with his friend Angela Earley. The two had met years earlier at the Deja Vu lounge.
Penn Avenue Fish Company feels like a little piece of Florida dropped into the Strip, with a marlin on the wall, a flamingo and a mermaid. There's a fish counter where the fishmongers will set you up for dinner at home and a sushi bar that has its own following.
For a lot of Pittsburghers it's where you go when you want seafood that tastes like it came straight off the boat, without leaving the Strip District.
