Pittsburgh classic
The story
James Blandi Sr. opened LeMont in 1960 on Grandview Avenue, on the spot where the Grandview Theatre used to stand, with the whole city spread out below.
Blandi was an inventor in the kitchen. LeMont credits him with the Turkey Devonshire, a Pittsburgh classic, and the Pecan Ball. LeMont became the place for big nights out, with Caesar salad made at the table and Steak Diane.
Edward and Anna Dunlap bought LeMont on June 1, 1999 and put $3 million into renovating it, and the Dunlap family still owns it. More than 8,000 couples have had their weddings there, and for plenty of Pittsburghers it's still the answer when an anniversary, a proposal or a visiting relative calls for that view.
