The story
The first Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe opened in New Brighton, Beaver County, late in 1959. Brothers Victor and Francis Trevelline modeled it on the shop their older brother had opened in Warren, Ohio, after World War II: hot dogs, fresh cut fries, chili, their own secret sauce and thick milkshakes.
A second shop came in Beaver Falls in 1968. In 1975 the brothers hired an accountant, Frank G. Papa, and in 1992 they built a commissary with Regis Luger. Today there are 10 shops, each independently owned.
As the family puts it, everyone who leaves the area puts a Brighton dog at the top of the list when they come back home.
