Pittsburgh classic
The story
Beto's has been making pizza since 1953, and the Post-Gazette calls it the oldest pizza business in the city that has never stopped. Today it's on Banksville Road, and it's famous for something nobody else around here does.
The pizza is Ohio Valley style, a tradition that traces back to Steubenville. Square cuts come off a tray hot, with the crust and sauce baked, then get piled high with cold shredded provolone and cold toppings. Some people love it, some people think it's crazy, and nearly everybody in Pittsburgh has an opinion.
That's part of the fun. Grab a few cuts, decide for yourself, and you'll have joined one of the longest running pizza debates in Pittsburgh.
